Image-building of the engineering profession among modern schoolchildren

Within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Educational Forum, the IX All-Russian Scientific and Practical Conference with international participation "Image-building of the engineering profession among modern schoolchildren" on the topic "Engineering education as a response to the challenges of society" was held at the Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University at the site of "Technopolis Polytech".

The conference was organized by the UNESCO Chair "Education Quality Management for Sustainable Development", the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of St. Petersburg, the Saint Petersburg Union of Entrepreneurs, the Russian State Pedagogical University after A. I. Herzen, Information and Methodological Centre and school No. 503 of the Kirovsky district of St. Petersburg.

The event was attended by about 300 representatives of the pedagogical community from 24 regions of the Russian Federation (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Ryazan, Kaluga, Samara, Rostov, Novgorod, Vladimir, Volgograd, Voronezh, Lipetsk, Sverdlovsk, Novosibirsk, Omsk Regions, Khakassia, Bashkortostan, Chuvash, Udmurt, Yakut Republics, Perm Oblast, Zabaykalsky Krai, Kamchatka Krai, Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug), as well as from Belarus, Kazakhstan and Angola.

The conference was held in a hybrid format. The plenary session was held both face-to-face and as a zoom conference, the event live streaming on the YouTube channel.

During the conference, the pressing issues of modern technical education, new forms and methods of career guidance of schoolchildren to engineering professions, modern educational technologies aimed at developing the engineering thinking of children and adolescents were highlighted and discussed. Specific ways of interaction of schools with institutions of vocational and supplementary education, universities, and the "North-West" Association of Industrial Tourism were outlined.

As a result of the conference, a Compendium of scientific and methodological articles and "Engineering Axiology" (a collection of methodological developments to help educators) were published, in which the works of 170 authors were gathered.
