Affection for Peterhof

Educational project of the Peterhof State Museum-Reserve and the Academic Gymnasium No. 56, St. Petersburg

Peterhof is the former grand summer residence of the Russian emperors. It is an integral part of the history of Russia. The "seaside paradise" was built as a impressive triumphal monument in honour of the victory of Russia in the Great Northern War.

"Affection for Peterhof" is a fundamental cultural and educational project that the Peterhof State Museum-Reserve and the Academic Gymnasium No. 56 of St. Petersburg have been implementing for many years.

In November 2018, the Gymnasium and the Museum-Reserve signed a cooperation agreement, establishing institutional relations, on the implementation of educational activities and organisation of conferences and exhibitions. Students of the Academic Gymnasium No. 56 take part in a major educational project of the "New Farm" Centre. It won the "Best Educational Project" award at the prestigious international museum festival "Intermuseum 2019".

The "New Farm" Centre provides St. Petersburg schools with ample opportunities to hold various extracurricular and leisure activities at the Centre and at the Museum-Reserve exhibitions.
